What Type Of Buns Does Fatburger Use

Fatburger is a hamburger chain that began in Los Angeles in 1952.

In 1952, Lovie Yancey opened the first Fatburger restaurant in L.A. Today the restaurant has franchises all over the United States boasting the biggest, juiciest hamburger ever. In addition to hamburgers, Fatburger serves freshly made onion rings, real ice cream milkshakes and french fries cooked in cholesterol-free oil. When you visit a Fatburger, you'll also enjoy rock and roll, rhythm and blues, hip-hop and classic soul music coming from the jukebox. Fatburgers are the favorites of many celebrities, some of whom have also invested in the chain, including Queen Latifah and Montel Williams. Fatburgers are served on buns provided by Puritan Bakery, which prides itself on its perfection of the hamburger bun. Add this to my Recipe Box.

History of Puritan Bakery

Puritan Bakery was started in 1938 by Dwight Grimes. His son, Tom Grimes, succeeded his father in 1964, and John Markulis became a partner in 1965. Markulis has made it his life's passion to produce the best hamburger bun. A trademarked motto from the 1970s boasts "the best buns in town."

Baking Process

Puritan buns are made the old-fashioned way.

Puritan buns are made like traditional homemade bread. Bakers use flour, water shortening and yeast. This is mixed together and then set aside from four to six hours to ferment, rise and develop its flavor. This is only the fermentation process. The next step is the dough. Once the fermentation process is complete, sugar, yeast, salt, flour and water are added to the spongy mixture to make dough. This dough is then shaped into buns before baking.

Freshness

Puritan Bakery services several other restaurants in southern California. One reason why they are so popular is they do not fall apart or get soggy when topped with juicy ingredients such as the burgers prepared by Fatburger. The company prides itself on freshness with a product that perfectly compliments the Fatburger hamburger patty.

Quality

Puritan bakery only uses top quality machines for their baked goods. The staff is committed to excellent service from the baking of the bread to the sale of the product. It is the choice bakery for Fatburger's famous hamburgers.
