Internet radio stations use embed codes and URLs to allow them play on IMVU products.
Streaming radio is available for IMVU users to purchase and place in their rooms. Radio stations vary based on the developer's music station selections. If you are a developer, you can embed your own radio stations into a radio that you make. Making a radio on IMVU requires that you are a registered user, meaning you own your avatar name and that you agree to all IMVU Terms of Service and Virtual Goods Policy.
Instructions
1. Download the stations and developer files, saving them to your computer. The files are stations.xml and developerInfo.xml. All files for IMVU products are required to be .xml extensions or they will not work
2. Open your files in notepad to edit the text. Insert the URL or codes for your radio stations into the stations.xml text. The first station is your default station, meaning it is the first station heard when users turn on the radio in their rooms. To edit comments or other text on the radio or the names of the stations, insert the text you wish in the developerInfo.xml text document.
3. Save your files by clicking on file in the upper left of your notepad. Save without changing the name of your file. This makes it easier to find when you enter create mode on IMVU. Do not change your extension.
4. Sign into IMVU using your user ID and password. On your main landing page, click on "Create" to open IMVU's content creator program. Choose "Create a New Product" from the list. If you already have a mesh picked out from another developer, copy and paste the product number into the "Product ID" field at the bottom.
5. Add textures to your player by clicking on the supporting parts on the right-hand side of your editor screen and choosing textures you have saved to your computer by clicking "Edit" on the radio part. Textures can be .jpg, .png or .gif files. Do not use any copyrighted textures or any textures you do not have permission to use. This is a direct violation of IMVU Virtual Goods Policy.
6. Click on the folder icon in the upper right-hand corner of your editor. This will open a pop-up window for you to add your station files. Click "Browse" to obtain your stations.xml and developerInfo.xml files. Select both files and click "OK" to add them to your product. Once the files are added, click "Save" and "Save As" from the upper right blocks.
7. Click "Upload" and fill in your product details on the pop-up form. Set your price and add tags to help users find your radio. Click "Submit" and wait for your browser to pull up the confirmation page. Derivation credits are automatically deducted from your credit balance. Click on the link "Submit to Catalog." Your radio will be put into a peer review to ensure it meets IMVU standards. Once approved, it will show up in the catalog for purchase. You will also have the finished product in your inventory.
