Finalizing a disc ensures it will work on all CD players and devices.
While most CD recorders support multisession discs, many CD readers, such as standard CD players, cannot read them. Finalizing your CD-R disc is important in ensuring compatibility with a wide range of CD devices. Finalizing a disc means that no more information can be added to it in the future. If you plan to finalize the data on your CD-R, you should ensure that you have all the data you need prior to burning. Nero includes the option to finalize your discs in the advanced burning options.
Instructions
1. Insert a blank CD-R into the CD\DVD drive on your computer.
2. Open the Nero StartSmart CD Creator application.
3. Double click the type of CD you want to burn. This loads a new Window that allows you to add the files you want to burn. Press the "Add" button. Browse for the file or files you need to burn and then press the "Finished" button.
4. Click the "Next" button at the bottom. This will load a "Final Burn Settings" window. Type a name for your disc in the "Disc name" box. Choose a burn speed in the "Writing speed" drop-down menu. While higher speeds will yield faster burn times, lower speeds will reduce the chance of an error.
5. Click the "More" button at the bottom and then click in the check box next to "Finalize Disk." Click the "Burn" button on the bottom right to burn your CD-R.
