Basement Bar Room Ideas

You don't need to go out drinking frequently when you have a basement bar room. Inviting friends and family over to enjoy the space with you is entertaining and often less expensive than going out for drinks. In addition to the bar area, add decor and the opportunity for activities in your basement bar room.

Sports Team Theme

Decorate your basement bar with a theme of your favorite sports teams. Paint the room, and find bar accessories in your team's colors. Add barware with your teams etched on the glasses, and place coasters and napkins on the bar with their logo. Hang photos, a clock, neon sign, pennants and banners of your team on the walls, and place life-size vinyl murals of your favorite NFL, MLB, NBA or NHL players on the walls. Place pub tables and stools with your team's logo. Add a pool table and darts for activities in your basement bar room.

Las Vegas Style Gaming Room

Besides drinks at the bar, set up a Las Vegas style game room in your basement. Set up a blackjack or poker table, or both, as space allows, with several seats. Slot machines and video poker machines, which take coins, will fit on the bar, or install a shelf to place them on. As the Vegas strip is full of neon, add a "Welcome to Vegas" and a few other neon signs to add brightness to the room. A jukebox or stereo system on which you can blast music will turn the bar room into a lively Vegas feel.

Screening Room

Watching a movie at home with a few drinks and friends is enjoyable. Turn your basement bar into a screening room complete with drinks and movies. Mount a large screen television onto the wall or a hanging projector and screen if budget and space allows. Hang movie posters on the walls, and place a couple lounge chairs and sofas between the bar and the television. Install surround sound and shelving to display your DVD movie collection. Lastly, add an old-fashioned replica of a street-corner popcorn stand in miniature to place on the bar or a full-size stand-up machine. Place bowls on the bar to fill with popcorn.
