Downgrade A Ps3 With Rockbox

Hackers use the term "softmod" to refer to any modification or alteration that is done to the operating system of a gaming device, like a PlayStation 3(PS3). Customarily, a system version downgrade is part of the overall softmodding process. It makes gaming system software run with some hacking software that is not compatible with newer versions of the operating system. Rockbox is a firmware application used in several MP3 devices, like Sansa player and some version of the Apple iPod Nano. The Rockbox application contains a built-in downgrading component for your Sony PS3 gaming device.

Instructions

1. Plug the sync cable into the corresponding port on your iPod Nano device. Plug the other end of the cable in to the USB port on your computer. A folder for your iPod will automatically appear on your computer.

2. Right-click the iPod Nano folder. Click the "New folder" option to create a new folder inside of the iPod folder. Name the folder: "PsGrade."

3. Download the "Rockbox.ipod" file. Drag-and-drop the "Rockbox.ipod" file into the "PsGrade" folder that you just created.

4. Right-click the iPod Nano folder and select "Eject" to eject the iPod from the computer.

5. Press and hold the "Select/Menu" button until the iPod shuts off. It will automatically reboot.

6. Plug the sync cable into the corresponding port on the iPod Nano. Plug the other end of the cable into the USB port on your PS3.

7. Press the "Power" button on the PS3. Press the "Power" button again to turn the system off after about six seconds. Unplug the iPod from the PS3.

8. Press the "Power" button on the PS3 to turn it back on. Press the "PS" button on the game controller.

9. Scroll to the "Turn OFF" option in the XMB menu. Press the "X" button to turn the system off internally. Unplug the game controller. The system will begin the downgrade process. Wait two to five minutes for this process to complete.
