In 2003, Hewlett-Packard introduced the Pavilion ZE4500 line of laptops. Designed as a mainstream mobile computer, the ZE4500 series came with the software necessary for business and entertainment needs including multimedia and financial software. The line has since been discontinued, but used and refurbished computers are still available, and ZE4500 parts are sold for use in repairs and replacement.
Dimensions
The Pavilion ZE4500 is a large laptop with a 15-inch screen (1024 by 768 display). The machine is 12.96 inches wide (33cm), 10.72 inches deep (27cm) and 1.62 inches tall (4cm) and weighs 7.25 pounds.
Hardware
The ZE4500 series runs on a Mobile AMD Athlon XP-M 2400+ processor, a single-core CPU with 1.8 GHz speed. It comes with a 40 GB hard drive and 256 MB of RAM with one open slot for expansion and a maximum upgraded RAM of 1 GB using both on-board memory slots (the original 256 card must be removed and replaced). An ATI Mobility Radeon 4X graphics card is included in the computer, with 64 MB of shared video memory. Altec Lansing speakers are built in to the computer. A DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive comes standard for all ZE4500 laptops but only U.S. customers receive the external USB floppy drive while those outside of the U.S. are required to pay extra for the feature. Fax/modem and network cards are integrated into the unit but a wireless card is not.

Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition comes pre-installed on ZE4500 laptops. Security is a 60-day subscription to Norton Antivirus with updates. Entertainment software includes InterVideo WinDVD, Microsoft MovieMaker, Windows Media Player, MusicMatch Jukebox, Roxio Easy CD & DVD Creator and HP PhotoSuite Toolkit for editing and retouching pictures. Encyclopedia Britannica On-Line and Quicken New User Edition come standard. Internet options include Microsoft Outlook Express and Internet Explorer.
