Pioneer Digital recording device 560 Specifications

Pioneer is an electronics company that creates devices such as the DVR 560, which allows users to record content from their television service (cable, satellite or over-the-air) and enjoy multimedia from external sources such as CDs or DVDs. The device is available in two colors -- black and silver -- and comes with a remote control.

Compatible Media

The Pioneer DVR 560 is compatible with the following types of media: DVD-Video, DVD-RW, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-RAM, Video CD, Super VCD, CD, CD-R/-RW with the CD-DA, WMA, MP3, MPEG-4 AAC, JPEG and DivX formats. This allows users to enjoy professional and home videos and audio multimedia using the television and other hardware connected to their home entertainment systems.

Capacity

Pioneer's 560 DVR has a hard drive with a maximum capacity of 160GB. This corresponds to a maximum of 455 hours or 27,300 minutes of recorded television or movie content. Like the traditional VCR, this device can record content in several modes, including XP, SP (standard play), LP (long play), EP (extended play), SLP, SEP and manual. The mode determines how many hours of data the DVR can actually accommodate. For example, the user can record 60 minutes of data at DVD quality using the XP mode. When the hard drive becomes full, the user will have to delete stored content in order to record new content.

Tuner

This DVR includes both a traditional analog TV tuner and a digital TV tuner for the newer digital broadcast signals. Consumers with the Pioneer DVR 560 do not require the digital signal converter box to receive over-the-air signals on their television sets.

Ports

Pioneer's DVR 560 has an HDMI interface for connecting to high-definition devices, such as an HD television. This interface supports high-definition audio and video data up to 1080p. In addition, there is are two USB ports on the device through which the user can connect her DVR to her computer. The user can also connect a Digital Video camcorder to the DVR in order to transfer home videos, using the DV Terminal (IEEE1394/FireWire port). Pioneer created this device with three S-Video input ports. There are also two S-video output ports, along with a component and coaxial output.

Features

This DVR allows users to pause live television and to control recorded video with "Forward," "Back" and "Pause" buttons, among others. During setup, the user can allow the device to automatically set the time on the clock. The Pioneer DVR 560 enables the user to preset favorite channels and groups. The digital jukebox software provides the ability to play audio files, including MP3s and WMA files, on the DVR. There is a hard disk backup option for creating backups of the data contained on the DVR and the DVR includes a sleep mode, to save power.
