CD-R discs can be burned for use in home stereo equipment.
Writing or burning music files to a CD-R disc is simple on modern computers. Windows and Macintosh operating systems come with native software for burning music CDs to play on a home stereo or to back up a music collection. The time it takes to burn a music CD will depend on the speed of the computer, the speed of the CD writer drive and the number of songs to be included.
Instructions
Burning a Music CD-R with Windows Media Player
1. Start Windows Media Player and click the "Burn" tab. Select "Audio CD" from the drop-down menu.
2. Open the CD drive and insert a blank CD-R disc. Close the drive.
3. Drag songs from the "Details" column on the left of the screen into the "List" column to form a playlist.
4. Click "Start Burn" when finished compiling the playlist. Right-click a song and select "Remove From List" if you make a mistake.
5. Wait as Windows Media Player burns the disc. A confirmation message will be displayed when the disc is complete.
Burning a Music CD-R with iTunes
6. Start iTunes and click "File," then "New Playlist."
7. Name the playlist and click "Music" from the left column.
8. Add a song to the burn list by dragging it into the playlist.
9. Finish adding songs, then select the playlist from the left column.
10. Click "Burn CD" in the bottom right of the screen.
11. Make sure "Audio CD" is selected in the menu. Insert the blank CD-R disc.
12. Click "Burn." The disc will be now be created.
