Don't go without your favorite vids on your video MP3 player.
When you get a new MP3 player and start loading all of your favorite media, nothing can kill the excitement faster than discovering that your device does not recognize half of your videos. Although annoying, this rarely represents a major problem with the player or the video file. Far more often, it is simply a minor compatibility issue between the video file format and the MP3 player, and can be easily remedied.
Instructions
1. Determine which video formats your MP3 player accepts. Most MP3 players, including iPods, use the MP4 format as the standard video type. Others, such as Hip Street players, use other standard video formats, like AVI. To figure out the type of file you need, consult the manual that came with your MP3 player or the company's website. If you can't find the information, it's usually safe to assume that the MP3 player uses MP4 video files.
2. Go to an online converter. Media-Convert, Media-Converter and Zamzar are some of the free sites available for media conversion.
3. Load your file into the media converter by pressing the "Add a file" or "Browse" button; navigating to the file on your computer's hard drive in the window that appears; clicking on the file name; and pressing the "Open" button. Once the file is loaded, most media converters automatically recognize the file type.
4. Select a "Convert to" or "Output" format for the file. Again, this is based on your specific device, but usually it will be "MP4," which is an option in nearly all online converters.
5. Enter your email address if the system asks for it. Some online converters, like Zamzar, email the file to you when the conversion is complete. Others, like Media-Convert, provide a link on the page to immediately download the file when the conversion is complete.
6. Press the "Convert" button. If you have entered an email address into the system, once the conversion has started, you can safely close the page and wait for your converted file to appear in your email inbox. If you did not enter an email address, leave the page open during the conversion process. If you close the page, the conversion stops. You can monitor the progress of the conversion on your screen.
7. Click on the line provided when the download is complete. Choose "Save as," select a folder on your hard drive, and save the converted file to your computer. The file is now ready to upload to your MP3 player.
