Fix An Innovative Zen Stone Very Good Music Player

Fix a Creative Zen Stone Music Player

The Creative Zen Stone is a no-nonsense personal music player that is lightweight, easy to carry and economically priced. Given its simplistic technical specs (and lack of an operating system or LCD interface), the Zen Stone is a fairly sturdy device. Still, like any electronic device, the Zen Stone can have technical issues. Fortunately, fixing these issues is relatively easy and it is not hard to get your Zen Stone back to its full potential.

Instructions

1. Discharge the battery fully and then allow it to charge back to 100%. Like many other rechargeable electronic devices, Zen Stones can suffer from a "memory leak" where they only charge to their most frequently charged point (instead of to 100%).

2. Soft-reset your player by inserting a straightened paperclip into the round hole at the bottom of the device. Once you have inserted the paperclip, remove it and wait a few seconds. If your reset was successful, you should be able to use the buttons on your device again.

3. If the soft-reset didn't work, you will need to reformat the device. This will erase all your content, so make backups if you can. Then connect the device to the computer using the sync cable and open the device in "My Computer." Highlight the Zen Stone icon and then right-click to open the sub menu. Select "Properties" and then "Format" from the new window. The memory will be erased.

4. If none of the above methods fixed your Zen Stone, then there may be a manufacturer's defect. Call Creative Support at (800) 998-1000 for more help in this instance.
