Go Ahead And Take Philips Gogear Apart

The Philips GoGear is a pocket-sized portable media player that plays videos and audio. If you've been having problems with your GoGear, you can open up the unit and replace parts, such as the battery or screen. And it can be done quickly.

Instructions

1. Turn your GoGear off and remove the two screws on either side of the data port at the bottom of the unit.

2. Insert the tip of your case opener tool in the seam where the back panel of the unit meets the front half. Work your way around the sides until the back panel separates. Set the panel aside.

3. Remove the four screws on the corners of the metal plate that covers the square hard drive. Remove the metal plate and set it aside.

4. Unplug the hard drive from its port and set it aside.

5. Remove the back plastic frame around the main circuit board and set it aside.

6. Locate the square battery on top of the circuit board. Unplug the thin battery cable from its port on the board and remove the battery.

7. Peel off the warranty sticker at the top of the board to reveal two screws. Remove the screws.

8. Lift the circuit board out of the housing and set it aside. The unit is now disassembled.
