Jukebox Game Room Ideas

A jukebox makes for an instant party.

A jukebox game room gives your space a festive atmosphere. Have some fun with your game-room decor, outfitting it with cool equipment and adding your personal spin of style to the space. Remember to illuminate your game room to ensure that people can play board and card games easily.

1950s Diner Game Room

One of the classic ways to decorate a room with a jukebox is to add 1950s diner decor. Begin with plastic laminate (e.g., Formica) tables surrounded by vinyl-covered bar stools with chrome frames. Cover walls with posters from 1950s movies and covers from vintage record albums, particularly those featuring rockabilly and dance bands. A low-slung mid-century modern sofa creates an oasis of cool in the midst of your game room. Outfit your revamped game room with retro board games such as Monopoly and Life.

Pub Game Room

A pub-style game room has a touch of sophistication. Invest in round bar tables made of dark wood and surround them with folding chairs or short bar stools. In addition to the jukebox, you might include a billiards table, a dart board and a variety of games involving cards or dice. Outfit the jukebox with British pub songs that get people dancing such as music by The Ramones, Sham 69 and Billy Idol. Hang bar lamps in red glass shades over your game tables. If your game room hosts adults, devote one end of the space to a polished wooden bar. Drink accessories such as beer steins, pub coasters and wine glasses finish the look.

Lounge Game Room

Give your game room hip, retro style with a lounge-theme makeover. Warm, saturated hues of rose, burgundy, purple and orange set the tone. Integrate furnishings covered in lush velvet upholstery and fabric, featuring rococo details such as gold embroidery, pom pom trim, tassels and fringe. Group furnishings such as a couch, love seat, chairs or floor cushions around the jukebox to evoke the feeling of a lounge framing a bandstand. Your lounge gets a tiki accent with totem poles and a bar covered in bamboo and raffia. Lounge barware includes a cocktail shaker, martini glasses, shot glasses, swizzle sticks, an ice bucket and tongs.
