Connect A Wii To Some Computer

Connect a Wii to a Computer

The Nintendo Wii is designed, like most game consoles, to hook up to a TV. But with the right equipment, a gamer can choose to connect it to a computer and play on its monitor.

Instructions

1. Find and install a video capture card for your PC. Video capture cards allow users to input signals typically used for connections to TVs on their computer; in this case, it makes it possible for the Nintendo Wii's video outputs to be interpreted by your computer.

2. Install the driver that came with your video capture card. The driver is very likely located on a CD that came with the video capture card, or you may need to download it from the video capture card company's website.

3. Connect your Wii to the video capture card in the same manner you would connect it to your TV. Plug the component plugs into your Nintendo Wii, and then connect the other ends to your video capture card's unused ports.

4. Start up your computer and access the multimedia program that runs with the video capture card. Some video capture cards have their own media jukeboxes, while others use Windows Media Player or Quicktime as their default programs.

5. Install the Wii's light bar on top of your monitor by latching it over the top surface of the monitor.

6. Power on the Nintendo Wii. The video output from the system will show up within the media jukebox. The Wii's splash screen will appear. Follow the on-screen prompts to recalibrate your Wii light bar.
