Convert An Openmg File To Wav Format

OpenMG (MagicGate) is an audio file format developed by Sony to provide Digital Rights Management (DRM) access control to the files used with its SonicStage software. WAV (Waveform) is a nonprotected format used in most Windows applications; converting OpenMG files to WAV can be done in a few clicks with the right audio-conversion software, allowing you to use those files with other programs as well.

Instructions

Converting audio files

1. Find a good audio-conversion software program that works with OpenMG files (see Resources); most need to be purchased to download, but you may be able to find one for free, at least on a trial basis.

2. Follow the cues to download once you've found the program you want. The program should open automatically when it's done. If not, look for it in your program files or as an icon on your desktop.

3. Locate the OpenMG files you want to convert to WAV. Click "Add Files" or "Select Files," depending on the software you're using. The files will end in .omg or .oma; highlight them and click "OK" to bring them into the main window of the conversion program.

4. Choose WAV as the format to convert to. This can be done either as a setting on the program's main toolbar or in the Settings menu, depending on the software.

5. Select the output folder where the files will go after the conversion. Choose someplace they can be easily found, like "My Music" or "My Documents," or create and name a new folder. Again, this can either be done in the Settings menu or as a setting near the main conversion window.

6. Click "Convert" or "OK," depending on the software, to start the conversion progress. Monitor the progress in the main window; the files will move to the output folder you selected upon completion.
