Convert A Wma File To Ipod device Format

Convert WMA file to iPod format


Audio files that are in WMA format are not compatible with the Apple iPod brand of portable music players. Once you place the file into your iTunes library, the iTunes software will automatically change the file into an iPod-compatible format. You may want to manually change a WMA file into a different iPod format if you plan on moving the file onto another computer or if you want to choose the exact iPod audio format for the WMA file.


Instructions


iTunes


1. Open iTunes.


2. Click "File." Highlight and choose "Add File to Library." A window named "Add to Library" opens.


3. Click on the WMA file inside the "Add to Library" window.


4. Click "Open." Click "Convert," and the WMA file will be converted to AAC and added to iTunes.


Import Settings


5. Click "Edit" ("iTunes" for those using iTunes on a Mac computer) at the top of the program.


6. Choose "Preferences." A window will open.


7. Click the "General" tab at the top of the window. Click "Import Settings" inside of the window. Another window will open.


8. Click on "Import Using" inside of the second window. Choose any iPod format inside the "Import Using" box. All of the file formats in the "Import Using" box will play on any iPod.


9. Click "OK" to save the setting. Click "OK" in the other open window. The main iTunes window will be the only window left open.

10. Click "Music" under "Library."


11. Choose the WMA file in the center of iTunes that you've converting to iPod format by clicking that file.


12. Click the "Advanced" selection at the top of iTunes. A menu opens.


13. Select "Create ____ Version." For example, "Create AAC Version" will appear if you chose the AAC file format in the previous section of steps.
