Decorate A Garage Having A nineteen fifties Theme

Add a jukebox to a garage for a 1950s theme.

Whether adding a small touch of nostalgia to a garage or decking it out completely, the 1950s era provides an ample amount of decorating ideas. From the red and white checkerboard diner colors to rock n' roll memorabilia, the '50s time period provides memories of a simpler time. Decide how extensively you want to transform your garage and begin furbishing it with a festive '50s theme.

Instructions

1. Paint garage walls with bright red and white diner-type colors. Paint red stripes onto the white walls to give the garage an entertaining flair. Hang red and white curtains to continue the theme on the windows.

2. Add chrome bar stools for seating and chrome racks for storing items. Tables and chairs with chrome legs provide additional seating. Reminiscent of the '50s, chrome provides a glistening allure to the space.

3. Hang old license plates on the walls, scattering them throughout the room. Enlarge black and white family photos from the '50s era, then frame and hang them on the walls. Also consider hanging large, retro artwork on the walls, such as old science fiction movie posters or pictures of famous '50s singers like Elvis or the Big Bopper.

4. Furnish the room with iconic signs from the '50s such as a Route 66 neon clock. Place a bright red Coca-Cola cooler in one area of the garage. Fill it with ice and bottles of Coke or your favorite beverages.

5. Place '50s era record players or radios on a table or shelf to display. Set a jukebox in one corner of the garage or find a smaller tabletop version.

6. Set out 50s toys like bobbleheads or old games such as tiddlywinks or Chinese checkers on tables and shelves. Hang old 45 records on the walls.
