It is no surprise that the iPhone, which combines a smartphone and MP3 player in one, has taken the market by storm. You can load your iPhone with hours of convenient, on-the-go entertainment by downloading music and transferring all or parts of your library to the phone from your computer. However, downloading music to the phone must be done correctly in order to prevent file loss and ensure the security of your computer.
Instructions
1. Open the iTunes application on your computer. Double click on the "iTunes Store" section of the toolbar on the left side of the iTunes window. Create an iTunes account if you do not already have one. You will need to provide your name, credit card information, and billing address.
2. Enter a song or artist name into the "Search iTunes" store field in the top right corner of the window. Once you have found the song you are looking for on the page displaying the search results, click on the "Buy Song" button. The song will download and appear in your iTunes library.
3. Download songs from websites providing MP3 files. Enter relevant information into search fields, as you did in iTunes, to find a given song. Double click on the file and agree to any terms and conditions to begin downloading the song.
4. Import any songs downloaded from the Internet by selecting "Add File to Library" from the "File" menu. Choose the directory in which the song is saved and highlight the song name. Import the song by clicking "Open."
5. Connect the iPhone to your computer with a USB cable. Once iTunes detects the phone, it will list its name in the "Devices" category of the toolbar.
6. Wait until iTunes synchronizes the iPod with the music library. Remove the USB cable from the phone to detach it from the computer after synchronization is complete.
