Download Music Programs

Music programs run the gamut from audio players to recording software to orchestral composition aides. While a handful of them are free, most of these programs are only commercially available. The process of downloading them is a matter of finding the software that fits your needs and making sure your computer is equipped to run it.

Instructions

1. Determine your needs. Audio players can do everything from play music to professionally mix songs like a DJ. Basic players include iTunes, Windows Media Player and Real Media Player. If you have large libraries of music, there are more sophisticated programs like J. River Media Center and Zortam MP3 Media Studio and Album player.

There also are self-contained professional DJ programs like DJ-1800 and FutureDecks Pro. Karaoke programs include KarAll and Blue Labelle JukeBox. Sound Mill is a sound effects player and manager. Pure Vinyl allows transcription and playback of vinyl LP records. CD ripping programs include MusicMatch Jukebox, Nero and Audiograbber.

2. Make sure your computer meets the software's requirements. Each program should list its requirements on its website. Depending on how complex the program is, you might need to add additional software components or hardware devices. Basic audio players will work with just about any computer.

For some audio programs, ensure your sound card supports the program. Most native sound cards will support music playback, but if you plan to record music, mix multiple tracks or output music to external devices, you will need a compatible sound card.

3. Download the software by locating the appropriate download page for the product. Make sure you download a version that works with your computer's operating system.
