Games To Experience For 50s Party

Remember the 1950s

If you were born in the1950s, what better way than to celebrate with a '50s party. After everyone arrives at the party dressed in their best poodle skirts, leather jackets, beehive and pompadour hairstyles, it's time for the fun and games to begin.

Look the part contest

Your guests have made the effort to come dressed up in their favorite '50s garb and they look fabulous. Raise your hand over each person's head and let the clapping and cheering meter decide who has won the best costume contest.

In pursuit of trivia

Test your guests' 1950s knowledge with a trivia game. Write questions about movies and television, popular celebrities, most popular music, even sports from the 1950s. Throw in a few modern-day quiz questions such as from the movie "Grease." If you want to mix it up a bit, play charades with the '50s movies and television titles.

Biggest bubble

Make sure you have a lot of Bazooka Bubble Gum on hand for a bubble gum blowing contest. See who can blow the biggest bubble, or if you dare, see who can fit the most bubble gum in his or her mouth. A box of Bazooka goes to the winners.

Dance the night away

Play American Bandstand. Hire a disc jockey or have a jukebox available for guests to pick out their favorite music. Be sure to include '50s music by performers like Buddy Holly, Fats Domino and Elvis Presley, and have guests be picked to rate the music. Enjoy a dance contest to find the best twist or mashed potato. Mix in a few other '50s dances like the stroll, and some line dancing. While everyone is still on the dance floor, bring out a stick and do the limbo.

Hula hoop contest

Throw some hula hoops into the center and watch your guests reminisce as they see how long they can hula hoop.

Board games that never get boring

For those who just don't have the energy to get on the dance floor, have a table filled with board games from the '50s. Mr. Potato Head, checkers, pick-up sticks, and Parcheesi all got noticed in the 1950s and are still popular to this day.
