Get Out of 3G on an AT&T Samsung Propel
Samsung Propel users on AT&T use the 3G network for checking e-mail, downloading ringtones and using Web-based applications. Not all AT&T Samsung Propel users are interested in the 3G network, however, because of the extra drain it exacts on the phone's battery. Samsung Propels are automatically set to receive the 3G signal but can be changed to a lower bandwidth by using a code to switch the network settings of the phone.
Instructions
1. Type in the code *#6984125*# on the keypad of your Samsung Propel. Hold down the "Fn" button while typing in the code. The "Fn" button allows the numbers and symbols above the letters to be typed in.
2. Scroll down and select the third option, labeled Network & Call Settings, that shows under the Admin Settings menu that will pop up after entering the code.
3. Select option three, labeled "Network Mode." Scroll down to the list of GSM modes--your phone settings will be "Automatic" when you reach this menu. Select a GSM mode to remove the 3G option from the phone. GSM bands on the Propel have levels of 850, 900, 1800 and 1900. If you choose 850 and the phone is too slow, change to 900 or higher.
