Instructions For That The new sony Md Mz N505

The Sony MZ-N505 Portable MiniDisc Recorder is a device that allows users to store -- and listen to -- audio files. Unlike an MP3 player, the Sony MZ-N505 does not store audio files on an integrated storage drive; instead, the device stores audio files on small, removable magnetic discs known as MiniDiscs.

Synchro-recording

Synchro-recording is the quickest method for recording audio to a MiniDisc with the Sony MZ-N505. After inserting the MiniDisc, connect the MZ-N505 to a CD player, digital TV or other digital source using an optical cable. To prevent the MZ-N505's batteries from draining, the instructions for the MZ-N505 recommend connecting the MZ-N505 to the AC power adapter and plugging the adapter into a power outlet. To begin the recording process, press the "Menu" button, then press the left or right arrow button repeatedly until "Sync-R" flashes in the display. Press the "Enter" button, and again press the left or right arrow button repeatedly until "On" flashes in the display. At this point, press "Enter" and the "Play" and "Rec" buttons simultaneously. Select "Play" on the CD player or other digital source. The MZ-N505 begins recording automatically upon receiving the playing sound.

Recording From a Computer>MD" flashes on the MZ-N505's display. Search for audio files on the computer's hard drive, add the files to an OpenMG Jukebox playlist and convert the files to Sony's proprietary ATRAC3 format. Download the files on the playlist to the MZ-N505's MiniDisc by selecting "Check Out" from the OpenMG Jukebox's "Check In/Out" tab.

Recording Without Overwriting

The Sony MZ-N505 is programmed to overwrite -- or record over -- any existing audio files on a MiniDisc. To prevent this from happening during recording, press the "Menu" button, press the left or right arrow button until "Option" flashes in the display, then press the "Enter" button. Press the left or right arrow button until "R-Posi" flashes in the display, press the "Enter" button, then press the left or right arrow button until "Fr End" flashes in the display; press "Enter" again. The next time you record something, the MZ-N505 will add the new audio files to the empty space that follows the existing files on a MiniDisc.

Playing MiniDiscs

After inserting a MiniDisc into a Sony MZ-N505, play the contents by pressing the "Play" button. Stop playback by pressing the "Stop" button, and press "Play" again to resume playback from the last stop point. To start playback from the beginning of a MiniDisc's contents, press and hold the "Play" button for two seconds or longer.
