Load Rockbox Onto A Sansa

Increase your Sansa MP3's capability with Rockbox.

The Sansa e200 series is a wonderful MP3 player. However, like many other players, it is limited by its firmware. By dual booting Rockbox firmware onto a Sansa, you can add functionality that would otherwise be impossible.

Instructions

1. Turn on the Sansa player. Scroll to "Settings." Scroll to "USB options." Select "MSC."

2. Connect the Sansa to your PC via the data transfer cable.

3. Click "Start" and "My Computer" on your PC. Under Other Devices, click "Sansa e200."

4. Navigate to Rockbox.org. Click "Current Build" on the left-hand menu. Next, click the picture of the Sansa player. Save the resulting .zip file to your desktop.

5. Right-click the .zip file on your desktop. Select "Extract to ... ". Locate your Sansa player in the browse dialog box that appears by selecting "My Computer," and then "Sansa e200." Select "OK."

6. Download the "SansaPatcher" from Rockbox.org.

7. Double left-click the downloaded SansaPatcher. A DOS prompt box will appear. Type the letter "i" (lower case) into the prompt. Select the return key. Text will appear. It will indicate when it is finished. Hit "Enter" again and close the prompt.

8. Rockbox is now loaded onto your Sansa. Navigate to "My Computer," then "Sansa e200." Right-click and select "Eject." Disconnect the Sansa from your PC. Shut the Sansa off by pressing the power button for three seconds. Turn it back on by pressing the power button for one second. It should default load Rockbox.
