Make A Sound Web Player

Adding music and sounds to your website is a snap with a Flash MP3 player.

There are many reasons why you might add sounds or music to your website: perhaps to promote your band's original music, stream your own web radio show, or greet your visitors with a personal spoken introduction. Adding audio enhances every visitor's experience and may entice them to browse your site a little longer.

The easiest way to add audio to a website is with an embeddable Flash MP3 player. There are many free Flash players available at little to no cost (prepare to shell out a few bucks if you want more functionality than simple streaming of MP3 files).

Instructions

1. Host your MP3 files somewhere on the web. This can be on your own server or you can use a file hosting company such as File Den, My Data Nest or File Ave. Be sure the host you choose allows for direct linking so that you can link your Flash player directly to the MP3 file.

2. Log in to your file-hosting account and begin uploading your MP3 files. You can sort them into folders, rename, move or delete the files once they are stored on your host server.

3. Choose a web Flash audio player for your website. Some popular free choices of embeddable players are the simple and clean-cut Word Press Audio Player (which works on all kinds of sites, not just Word Press blogs), Project Playlist's built-in player, Yahoo Media Player, Poqbum, and MP3 Player. All essentially function the same.

4. Create your Flash player by first choosing a player skin style. Many players will allow you to customize the color and size and/or use your own custom background graphic.

5. Copy/paste the URL links from where your files are hosted into the flash player builder when prompted. For example, if you have an hour-long radio show split into three 20-minute segments, you'll need to copy/paste the URL of each MP3 file in the order you want them to play.

6. Select your options for how you want the file names or song titles to appear in the player, and whether or not the audio player will start automatically when visitors land on the page. Click "Create Player" when you're done.

7. Copy the automatically-generated HTML code given to you at the next screen and paste it into your website, blog, MySpace, or Facebook page. Save your changes.

8. Refresh your website or social network page and you should see/hear your new flash audio player.
