Frankly, listening to party jams on your iPod using your iPod headphones is no party. Instead, share the tunes with a bass-thumping subwoofer that amplifies the sound for everyone's enjoyment. You may use an iPod-specific subwoofer, designed with an iPod dock for easy connectivity, or a standard subwoofer that uses an auxiliary port or RCA cables.
Instructions
1. Connect the subwoofer to a reliable power source and turn it on. The power switch is typically located at the base of the subwoofer. If you are unsure, consult your subwoofer's user manual.
2. Plug the iPod into the subwoofer using its iPod port if it is an iPod-specific subwoofer. Slide the bottom of the iPod, where its dock connector is, into the subwoofer's iPod slot. Music is streamed from the iPod to the dock connector and through the subwoofer.
3. Use a mini-jack converter cable if you want to use your iPod with a subwoofer that has an auxiliary port. Such converter cables have a standard stereo plug on one end and a headphone-sized mini-plug on the opposite end. Plug the small end into your iPod's headphone jack and the opposite end into the subwoofer. The iPod's music will now stream through the converter cable.
4. Play music through the subwoofer using an RCA cable converter if the subwoofer requires such a connection. Plug the single black end of the RCA cable converter into your iPod's headphone jack. Connect the three-sided end of the converter cable to the appropriate color-coordinated wires on the subwoofer. For example, the subwoofer's red RCA cable plugs into the converter cable's red end.
