Windows Media Player is a popular player found on Windows operating systems. It allows you to upload and play back music, videos, photos and more. If your media player is cluttered with content you do not need and want to get rid of, you can remove it from the media library. This process is simple and allows you the additional option of completely removing the files from your computer should you so choose.
Instructions
1. Click the Windows "Start" button, and select "All Programs." Click "Windows Media Player" to launch the player.
2. Click the "Library" tab, and select the category in the library (e.g., songs) to delete files from the left panel.
3. Right-click the item you want to delete from the right panel, and click "Delete." To select multiple adjacent files, press and hold "SHIFT" and select each item you want to delete.
To select nonadjacent files, press "CTRL" and click the items you want to delete. Right-click the highlighted files and click "Delete." Click "Delete from Library" or "Delete from library and my computer" if prompted.
4. Right-click the playlists you want to delete under "Playlists" on the left panel. Click "Delete" to remove them from your media player.
5. Remove media (MP3) player information from the Windows Media Player library if you want. To do so, disconnect your MP3 player from the computer. Right-click the device to remove in the navigation panel, and click "End Sync Partnership." Keep in mind that you will have to set up sync again between your MP3 player and Windows Media Player if you perform this step.
