Move Cricut Designstudio To A Different Computer

Purchasing a new computer can cause you anxiety figuring out migrate all you files from you old computer to the new one. For home crafters with a Cricut machine, the Cricut DesignStudio software is a versatile tool to arrange and save your Cricut projects. Not only will you need to re-install the software on your new computer, you may also want to move all of your saved projects over to the new computer.


Instructions


1. Boot up your old computer. Navigate to the folder where you have saved all of the DesignStudio templates. The default location for your DesignStudio files is "MyDocuments/Cricut/Projects."


2. Insert the USB memory stick into a USB hub, wait for your computer to recognize and format the memory stick.


3. Click on the "Computer" icon on your computer and navigate to the USB hub file under "Removable Devices."


4. Copy all of the files located in the folder where your Cricut templates are located. Navigate to the USB file and paste the files into the folder. Wait for all of the files to copy, and then remove the USB memory stick.


5. Boot up your new computer. Insert the CD that came with your DesignStudio software. Follow the installation prompts to install the software. Agree to the User Agreement and click "Finish" when the installation is complete.


6. Connect your Cricut to the computer by plugging the fat end of the USB cable into the port next to the power port on the back of the Cricut, and the USB end to your new computer. Allow your computer to recognize and install the drivers needed for the Cricut.


7. Double-Click the DesignStudio icon on your desktop to launch the program.


8. Enter the serial number product key into the indicated boxes on DesignStudio page. Press "Activate Using the Internet." Click "OK" after the successful activation message appears.


9. Plug the USB memory stick into an available USB port on the new computer. Allow the computer to recognize and install the USB memory stick.


10. Open the "Documents" folder on your desktop. If the Cricut folder has not been created, create a new folder by clicking the "New Folder" icon. Remember the name of the folder so that you can navigate to it from the DesignStudio software when you want to access the saved templates.


11. Open the "Computer" folder on your desktop and navigate to the USB memory stick folder under "Removable Devices."


12. Copy the files in the folder and paste them into the folder you designated for your Cricut templates.
