Remove Visualizations From Home windows Media Player 11

Visualizations for Windows Media Player can come in many forms.

Visualizations for Windows Media Player, including the newest version, WMP 11, are graphic add-ons that "dance" and change colors on your screen according to the music you are playing. These add-ons are very simple to download and install, but removing them can be a little more difficult. If you wish to remove visualizations from your WMP 11 application, two methods are available.

Instructions

Method One

1. Open Windows Media Player 11.

2. Click the drop menu under "Now Playing." Click "Visualizations." Click "Options." Find the visualization you wish to remove. Highlight it by clicking it.

3. Click "Remove." This should remove the visualization. Some visualizations may not allow you to use this method; the "Remove" button does not become active when you select the visualization. In this case, try method two.

Method Two

4. Click "Start" on the task bar to open the "Start" menu. Click "Run."

5. Type "cmd.exe" in the text box. Click "OK." At the command prompt, type "cd\program files\Windows Media Player\visualizations." Press "Enter."

6. Type "dir" and press "Enter." This will bring up a list of the visualizations installed on your computer. Find the visualization you wish to remove. Type "regsvr32.exe/u:" where is the name of the .dll file for the visualization you wish to remove. This will remove the file from the registry. Type "del " to delete the file.
