Repair A Jbl Changer

Your car's JBL audio system is one of the best on the market, but even it can malfunction -- particularly the disc changer, which has a myriad of easily jammed moving parts. The JBL disc changer operates much like an old-time jukebox, but instead of moving around old vinyl discs, it moves around CDs. However, the disc changer must do this while on the move, and hard bumps can occasionally jam the CD changer mechanism.

Instructions

1. Locate the small, round hole to the lower right of the disc slot. This hole is the manual eject port and can be activated with a paper clip. Unwind a paper clip so that you have 2 inches of straight metal. Insert the paper clip stick into the hole until you feel resistance, then push with a steady but firm motion. This should eject the disc if it is jammed. Try to activate the disc changer now to see if that was enough to fix the problem. If not, then go to the next step.

2. Take the center console off the dash of your car if the changer is in the dash. The exact process will depend on your car's make and model, so consult your car's user's manual. Most will come off if you work a flathead screwdriver around the seam of the console, between the console and the dash. Pull the console off to expose the stereo system on your car with the JBL changer underneath. Push all the CD trays in the disc changer down, and push the changer mechanism all the way down. Remove any debris and reattach the console.

3. Open the trunk and pop the disc changer out of its enclosure by pulling the latch open. Pull the disc changer tray out and reset the CD trays so that they are all recessed. Push the changing mechanism all the way down, and put the tray back in the enclosure.
