A Vendo 35 Coke machine was a Coke machine used in the 1940s and 50s to dispense 12 or 8-ounce bottles of Coca Cola products. The Vendo 35 Coke machine was built differently than the machines of today. This type of machine is called a mini-slider, resembling a large cooler. The bottles line up in the bottom of the slider and come out when money is inserted. This is one of the easiest Coke machines to load, provided it works properly. Before filling the machine with bottles, it is important to ensure that it is in good working order. Add this to my Recipe Box.
Instructions
1. Open the lid of the machine. You may have to use a flathead screwdriver to pop the mechanism or use a dime or nickel to unlock the machine if you do not have the key. Raise the lid and prop it up with a long stick or other tool to keep it from falling as you work.
2. Use a screwdriver to unscrew the top sliding rack from the inside of the machine. If the screws are rusty, throw them away and replace them with new ones.
3. Clean out the inside of the machine with a degreasing cleanser and a soft cloth to remove any grease, dust or other contaminants.
4. Place a bottle inside the cooler to test the fit. The recommended size is 12-ounce bottles, but 8-ounce bottles should also work.
5. Line the bottles up with the base touching the far right wall. Place more bottles inside the machine facing in the same direction. Do not pack the machine so tight that the bottles cannot shift toward the front, where the purchasers will remove them.
6. Reinstall the slider lid back over the bottles using the screwdriver. Close the lid. Cool the bottles for 24 hours before removing them from the machine for consumption.
