There are several bars in the DC area
Washington DC has several different types of bars all over the neighborhood. The most popular hang out spots are located around U Street, Adamas Morgan, Dupont Circle and Georgetown. You will find everything from gay bars to hookah lounges at these locations. For singles looking to have a good time, look no further than Black Cat on 14th Street. If you want to find some quality beer, drink some liquor, enjoy a trivia night, take in a live concert or just dance, you can do it all at Black Cat. Prices are reasonable across the board, but they don't accept credit cards.

Bar Area
If you're not looking to see a live show, you can simply head down to the Red Room, which is Black Cat's bar area. Here you will find a stocked bar with an assortment of micro-brews and imports, Belgian beers, and a good selection of bourbon and scotch. You can even take part in some pool or pinball as you relax in the laid back atmosphere.
You will find a nice mix of regulars and first timers taking in some brews at the bar. Many people go to the bar in groups. Yet, if you're by yourself, you won't be out of place at all. You won't be the only one.
Music
Before you go to Black Cat, go to its Website and check the music schedule for the night. For dance parties, Thursday, Friday and Saturday are the best nights to go. They will have a DJ spinning anything from indie rock to hip-hop and rap. There is no consistency among music, which can be good and bad. If you're looking for a place that plays the same style of music night after night, then Black Cat isn't for you. If you're looking for a place that will play music that is specifically appealing to you a couple nights a week, Black Cat is the place to be. The dance floor is pretty spacious, and you can wander to and from the Red Room. Depending on the night and the party, you may have to pay a cover charge to get in. However, the Red Room is always free.
If you go to Black Cat on a quieter night--such as Tuesday or Wednesday--you will be able to play music from a jukebox. The jukebox has a wide selection of all types of music, and you will most likely find something that you like. Live shows cost a reasonable fee and can be purchased online in advance from the Website.
Live Shows
Black Cat is known to showcase some of the city's best unknown talent. If you're looking for a big name show, you may want to look somewhere else. If you're the type of person who wants to see the next big music act before they become famous, you won't find a better place than Black Cat. The music room is spacious and can hold about 600 people. It's great for an intimate concert. They also hold big names every once in a while.
Crowd
The crowd ranges from night to night. For the most part, expect to find college students and young professionals in this bar. There is a large hipster crowd on some nights, an indie rock crowd on others and a hip hop crowd on some nights. The crowd will usually depend on the music show for the night. If there is no show, you will find a very diverse crowd. They have happy hour five days a week, where you will mostly find people just getting off work. They also hold trivia nights, where you will find a more educated and laid back crowd. This bar is great for singles, because you can find any type of crowd on any given night.
