Throw A 60th Birthday Celebration

It takes planning to throw good birthday celebrations.

A 60th birthday is a momentous occasion in an individual's lifetime. As a result, the planning of such a milestone birthday party, whether it is for yourself, your spouse, a sibling or a good friend, requires some thought and organization. Many different options exist for throwing fun and meaningful birthday parties, and it is important to properly weigh all of the available choices that are out there.

Instructions

Throwing a 60th Birthday Celebration

1. Consider a themed celebration. One fun and memorable way to throw a 60th birthday party is by making it a themed event. Consider the age of an individual that is turning 60 years old. A 60 year old likely attended grammar school in the 1950s. A nostalgia-themed retro birthday celebration is a fun-loving idea to consider, with items that are characteristic of the decade, such as a gramophone, jukebox and candy cigarettes. Other fun theme ideas include fiestas, country western, summertime, Hawaiian luau and disco.

2. Think "60" in terms of party favors and other items. The number 60 is the focal point for a 60th birthday party. One smart touch for throwing such a party is using items (from balloons and napkins to plates and banners) that are emblazoned with the number 60.

3. Don't be afraid to be nostalgic. Many people feel nostalgic when they approach a milestone birthday, and 60 years old is no exception. It is important to invite all of the birthday guy or gal's closest friends and family, and many of them, when together, will feel nostalgic. Produce collages of old pictures of the birthday person throughout the years, from childhood to the present day. Place the collages on poster board and put them on the wall.

4. Make a great track list. Whether it is necessary to hire a DJ or make the track list alone, nothing helps to complete a party better than an excellent soundtrack. For a person turning 60 years old, it might be a good idea to play some of the biggest hits that could remind him of high school or of his time as a young adult in the 1970s and 1980s. Think everything from Lesley Gore's "It's My Party" to "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees and "Nothin's Gonna Stop Us Now" by Jefferson Starship.
