The Dell digital jukebox, or Dell DJ, is an MP3 player manufactured by Dell, an American consumer electronics company. As with similar players, the DJ features a large hard drive that many consumers use to back up their audio libraries. In the event that your computer crashes or your music library is otherwise deleted from your PC, you can use your Dell DJ to restore the music files onto your computer through the software included with the MP3 player.
Instructions
1. Connect the Dell DJ to the computer via the USB connector included with the MP3 player.
2. Launch the Dell DJ Explorer, usually located in your "Start" menu. If the Explorer is not installed, locate your DJ installation CD to install the software onto your computer.
3. Click the "View" menu at the top of the window and select the "Portable Device Manager" option.
4. Minimize the Dell DJ Explorer window and return to your computer desktop.
5. Open your Music folder and minimize the folder.
6. Maximize the Dell DJ Explorer window.
7. Scroll through the list of songs and highlight the ones you want to transfer onto your PC. If you want to transfer the entire music library onto your PC, simultaneously press "Ctrl" and "A" on your keyboard to highlight all of the songs listed.
8. Click any of the highlighted songs and hold the mouse button.
9. Drag the mouse cursor, without letting go of the button, to the bottom of the screen and drop it on the Music folder in your taskbar.
10. Wait while the Dell DJ transfers the files onto your computer. The time it takes can vary depending on how many songs you are transferring.
11. Disconnect the DJ from the computer by removing the USB cord from the device and your computer.
