Transfer A Wmp Playlist For An Ipod device

Listen to playlists created in Windows Media Player on your iPod

Windows Media Player allows you to easily create playlists of all your favorite songs so you don't have to manually switch between artists and albums each a track finishes. However, if you are using an iPod you will need to sync your music files using iTunes. You can transfer playlists created in Windows Media Player to your iPod through iTunes.

Instructions

1. Open "Windows Media Player." Create a playlist by dragging your chosen songs from the library and dropping then into the sidebar.

2. Click the playlist options icon at the top of the sidebar, which is represented by a box with a tick in the middle of it. Select "Save list as..." from the drop-down menu.

3. Type the name of your playlist in the relevant field. Choose "M3U Playlist" from the "Save as type" drop-down menu. iTunes and the iPod are incompatible with the standard Windows Media playlist file type (WPL).

4. Choose where to save the playlist file using the location bar and click "Save" to complete the process. Close Windows Media Player and open the folder where the playlist file is saved.

5. Open "iTunes." Drag and drop the playlist file into the iTunes library. Attach your iPod to the computer using the supplied USB cable.

6. Locate the playlist in the left-hand sidebar under "Playlists." Drag and drop the playlist into the "Music" folder of your iPod, which is listed under "Devices" at the top of the sidebar.
