The Philips GoGear SA5285 is capable of playing WMV formatted videos. Before a video can be transferred it must be analyzed, and possibly converted, by the MediaConverter management software developed by ArcSoft. Movies and videos can be taken from the save location on the computer or ripped from a DVD disc. Philips states that this particular GoGear model has up to five hours of video playback when the battery is fully charged.
Instructions
1. Launch MediaConverter. The software can be found on the installation disc that came with the Philips GoGear or can be downloaded online from Philips support section.
2. Connect the Philips GoGear to the computer using a USB sync cable.
3. Click "Add File" or "Add DVD." The Add DVD option will convert a movie from DVD, you will have to insert a DVD disc into the computer's CD/DVD-ROM prior to selecting this option.
4. Choose the video file in the Browser pop-up window from the save location, or from the CD/DVD-ROM drive.
5. Select the destination, "Philips GoGear," for the video file in the "Convert to" menu.
6. Click on the "Start" button and the software will convert and transfer the video to the Philips GoGear.
