Copy Karaoke Tunes To Usb Drives To Experience In Karaoke Machines

Many karaoke machines now have the ability to play songs stored on USB memory devices.

Thanks to advances in technology, karaoke is far beyond its original means. Games like "Sing It" and "Sing Star" catapulted karaoke into the realm of video games, while standard karaoke machines take advantage of hard drives and digital music to expand their capabilities. Some even allow karaoke singers to bring their own music on USB flash drives to plug directly into the karaoke machine for an even more expanded playlist. Luckily, putting karaoke songs onto your flash drive is an easy process, only requiring a few simple steps.

Instructions

Copying Karaoke Songs from a Disc

1. Insert your USB flash drive into one of the USB ports on your computer.

2. Open your web browser and navigate to the CAVS homepage. Purchase and download the CAVS Encoder software. Double-click on the program's icon and follow the on-screen instructions to install it on your computer.

3. Run the program. Insert the karaoke disc that you wish to copy the songs from into the disc drive on your computer. Your computer must have a Plextor brand disc drive to copy karaoke songs from a disc.

4. Select the karaoke files that you wish to place on your USB flash drive. Click the "Encode" button to begin the encoding process. Allow several minutes for this process to finish.

5. Create a new folder in the root directory of your USB drive and name it "Karaoke." Drag the folders containing the karaoke song files into this new folder.

6. Rename the karaoke song files in each of the folders so that they each have a five digit number as their name. Each folder contains two files, a .mcg file and a .mp3 file. Both of the files in each folder must have the same name with a different extension. For example, the first folder will contain files named "00001.mcg" and "00001.mp3," the second folder will contain files named "00002.mcg" and "00002.mp3," and so on. Start at "00001" file series and continue until you rename all the files.

7. Eject your USB flash drive from your computer.

Copying Digital Karaoke Songs

8. Insert your USB flash drive into one of the USB ports on your computer.

9. Open your Web browser and navigate to a website that provides users with digital karaoke tracks. CDG Download and The Karaoke channel are two of the websites that provide this service.

10. Purchase and download the karaoke tracks that you wish to place on your USB flash drive.

11. Complete Steps 5 through 7. Plug the USB drive into the karaoke machine and the songs will appear on the screen for you to choose.
