It's possible to identify unknown logos and other images.
If you come across an unknown company name, it's easy enough to Google it and find out basic corporate information. But what can you do when you stumble across an unfamiliar corporate logo? Interestingly enough, you can conduct what's known as a reverse search for images and, with a bit of luck, identify your unknown logo.
Instructions
1. Identify or create an electronic image of the unknown corporate logo. If the image is on the web, you can simply isolate and save the image url, which usually ends with the extension .jpg, .bmp, .gif or another common image format. If the image is not on the Internet, then scan or photograph the logo to create an electronic file of the logo.
2. TinEye can help identify unknown images.
Visit tineye.com. TinEye provides a search function known as a reverse image search. Starting with a file or url of an image, TinEye will search more than a billion images looking for identical images or images that are nearly identical but have been slightly altered by, for instance, adding text.
3. Search for your unknown logo. Enter the file name or the url of the logo in the TinEye search fields and hit "Search." For a common corporate logo, TinEye probably will return dozens of other sites with the same image. Even fairly obscure logos might turn up some search results.
4. Examine the search results for identifying information. The sites using the unknown logo often will include the exact identification you're seeking.
