If you want to make an MP3 audio file compatible for a regular CD player, convert it to the CDA file format. All CD players can read CDA files. The compact discs that you purchase from retail stores contain files formatted using this extension. Making an MP3 audio file compatible for a regular CD player can be accomplished natively using the Windows operating system, as long as your computer came with a standard CD burner.
Instructions
1. Open Microsoft's Windows Media Player. This utility can both play music and videos as well as burn that content to CDs or DVDs. A shortcut icon for Windows Media Player is in your "All Programs" menu.
2. Click the "Burn" button at the top of the window.
3. Click "Audio CD." Drag your MP3 file into the "Audio CD" window in Windows Media Player.
4. Put a blank CD into your burner.
5. Click "Burn." Windows Media Player will convert the MP3 audio file to the CDA file format and burn it to your CD.
