Manage Launch Programs In Home windows Xp

Manage Start
Up Programs in Windows XP

People who are interested in managing their computers' start-up programs are probably suffering from slow boot times. Programs that run as soon as the system is turned on can kill a speedy boot, so you should know disable unnecessary programs to speed up boot time. On the other hand, if you would like to have programs you use often automatically start up each time you turn on your computer, you can use the same process in reverse.

Instructions

1. Click on the "Start" icon and click on "Run..." on the Start Menu.

2. Type "msconfig" in the allotted space and press the "Enter" key or click on "OK." This command will start the Microsoft System Configuration Utility.

3. Click on the "Startup" tab to see a list of the programs that are set to run at start-up. All of the programs should be checked.

4. Uncheck the programs that you don't want to run at start-up. This will speed up your boot time.

5. Click on "Apply" and "OK" to confirm your changes and then close the Microsoft System Configuration Utililty.
