Set Nero To Lose Doublelayer Dvds

Set Nero to Burn Double-Layer Discs

Double-layer DVDs have great usefulness because almost any DVD player can read them and they can store double the data of a standard DVD on a single disk. While they are not as popular to purchase for consumers, the disks are a better alternative if you are backing up a hard drive, burning multiple videos to a disk or if you have large files in general. Burning double-layer DVDs can be done many ways with Nero's extensive program.

Instructions

1. Click on the "Make Your Own DVD-Video" icon in the Nero Start Smart menu. The icon is located under the "Photo/Video" category of the program. Click on the drop-down menu in the right corner when a new project loads. Select the "DVD-9" option for a dual-layer disc.

2. Click on "Nero Express" from the applications list. Choose the "Data DVD" option, pictured with the gold DVD disc. Choose "DVD-9" from the drop-down menu or insert a blank double-layer DVD so that the program scans it and automatically adjusts the project settings.

3. Choose the "Nero Back It Up" application. Use the "Wizard" to automatically create a back-up of the hard drive. The application automatically detects double-layered DVDs, so insert a disc before completing the wizard.

4. Create a new audio DVD by clicking on "Create Audio MP3 DVD" or "Create Jukebox DVD." Select DVD-9 from the drop-down menu at the top of the screen.

5. Ensure the DVD-9 is set for any project by looking at the size progress bar. On a double-layer disc, the size bar will be increased to a little less than 9 gigabytes. If this has not changed, the double-layer DVD mode is not set properly.

6. Make sure the discs you are using are double-layer, because burn errors will occur if you use a single-layer disc on a double-layer project.
