They are popular because of their lossless nature, which is to say that they do not lose size or quality while being played, edited or transferred. While they are useful in this manner, they are not used on a variety of programs or players. You can convert them to the more accessible MP3 format using a couple of media players or websites.
Instructions
Music Match Jukebox
1. Download the Jukebox for free from the program's official website and launch it on your desktop.
2. Select "File">"Options">"Convert" from the main menu and use the "Source Directory" window to select your Flac file.
3. Click a folder in the "Destination Directory" window to send your converted file to, and select "MP3" in the "Destination Data Type" line.
4. Click "Start" to convert your file and send it to your selected folder.
iTunes
5. Open the iTunes player on your computer after installation and select "Edit" on the upper menu.
6. Click "Preferences">"Import Settings">"Import Using: MP3 Encoder" and select "OK."
7. Drag and drop your Flac file onto the iTunes library and right click on it.
8. Select "Create MP3 Version" in the pop-up menu, and a new converted file will launch directly below the original Flac Cue file.
