Portland, Oregon offers visitors and locals a choice of many bars and dance clubs. From jazz to techno to salsa dancing there are many bars to choose from. While the most popular area in town for dance clubs is the Pearl District, there are clubs to be found all over town.
The Blue Monk
Located in the Belmont neighborhood, The Blue Monk offers a bar with a huge beer selection, an Italian restaurant, a stage for live bands and a dance floor. The Blue Monk features swing dancing, jazz, blues and even a belly dancing night on the third Friday of each month. In addition to the extensive beer selection, the bar also offers wine by the bottle or by the glass and mixed drinks. The basement features free pool tables and free darts, a jukebox and on Wednesdays an open mic poetry night.

Lotus Cardroom and Cafe
The Lotus Cardroom and Cafe is located downtown in a historic building dating back to 1923. It offers dining in the cafe and European techno music in the cardroom with live music every Saturday night. A cage suspended in the second story has male and female dancers dressed in white clothes and lit with a black light. The Lotus is known for attracting a mixed crowd of patrons from professionals to punk rockers. The restaurant offers causal dining food including salads, sandwiches, fish and chips and mac and cheese. In addition to beer and wine offerings, the bar also offers specialty drinks such as a Raspberry Cosmopolitan.

Club 915
Club 915 is located in downtown Portland and features a family dining restaurant and a dance club with a bar. The restaurant offers casual dining options like burgers, salads and tapas. The club area is casual as well with couches and televisions surrounding the dance floor. The club's house band Keegan Smith and the Fam plays an eclectic mixture of rock and reggae music every Monday night and other special occaisions. The club also has special DJ nights including Latin dancing and and hip hop.

Jimmy Mak's
Jimmy Mak's in the Pearl District is a restaurant, bar and dance club featuring jazz and swing music. The restaurant features Greek and Middle Eastern specialities including gyros and dolmathes. The bar serves several draft and bottled beers, wine by the bottle or glass and specialty cocktails such as the Kir Imperial made with Chambord and white wine. Music and dancing begins each evening at 8pm and those under 21 are allowed to stay until 9:30. Special shows have a separate cover charge.
