Unlock your Motorola V3i and switch service providers.
The Motorola V3i was one of the followups to the original V3 Razr phone and was first introduced in 2005. Like its predecessor, it's an extremely thin clam-shell style phone that's packed with features, including a video camera, Bluetooth connectivity and a WAP browser. It's also uses GSM technology, which means you can unlock it. Unlocking your V3i will allow you to swap out your SIM card for one belonging to another service provider, allowing you to use the phone with a different service provider.
Instructions
1. Get your V3i's 16-digit IMEI number by typing "*#06#" into its keypad. Make note of the number.
2. Contact your service provider's tech-support department and request an unlock code. Be ready to give them your mobile number and IMEI number. They may also request your voicemail password. If they refuse to give you a password, you can purchase one from a remote unlocking site such as unlocktotalk.com, unlockmobilesolutions.com or unlockallcellular.com (see links in Resources).
3. Turn off your V3i phone and slide off its back cover. Take out the battery, then slide your SIM card out. Insert your new SIM card into the phone, replace the battery and turn the phone back on.
4. Key in the unlock code that you acquired in Step 2 when your V3i's screen says "Enter Subsidiary Code." Your phone is now unlocked.
