Use Seeburg Jukebox Preamps For Stereo systems

By connecting an external preamp, sound quality can be improved.

Seeburg was a popular producer of preamplifiers for jukeboxes in the '50s and '60s, and the preamp was mounted on the amp chassis. The purpose of a preamp is to boost the signal strength of an audio input and prepare it to be increased by the amplifier. In most modern stereo systems, the preamp is located inside the receiver to save space, but some systems still require a separate preamp component. A Seeburg preamp can be connected between the audio input and the amplifier of a stereo system.

Instructions

1. Locate the RCA sockets on the Seeburg preamp. There will be two pairs, both with a red and white socket. Then locate another socket for the earthing cable and one for a stereo mini-jack.

2. Connect the tuner or other audio input, such as a microphone, to the preamp with RCA cables. Then connect them with an earthing cable, which is used as a thinner. This prevents hums and other unwanted noise.

3. Connect the preamp to the amplifier of the stereo, with another set of RCA cables. Connect a mini-jack into the appropriately sized socked in the Seeburg and the plugin that reads "line" on the stereo amp.

4. Test the sound quality of the audio system. It should produce a clearer sound than stereos that have the input, preamp and amp together inside a single receiver.
