Transfer your music collection to your computer
These days, many people use their computers not only as productivity tools but as home entertainment centers as well. The availability of music, both free and paid, on the Internet has made it easier than ever before for computer owners to turn their computers into fully functional jukeboxes. If you have a home network, you can even make your music collection available to all other computer users in the home.
Instructions
1. Be sure you have at least one USB port available on your computer. You will need to connect your portable music player to the USB port to transfer the music.
2. Connect the USB cable from your computer's USB port to the port on your portable music player. Make sure the cable is properly seated on both ends.
3. Log on to your computer and right click on the "My Computer" icon. Choose "Explore" from the menu to open Windows Explorer.
4. Click the "plus" sign next to "My Computer" and locate the drive letter assigned to your music player. If your computer has a CD or DVD drive, the music player will probably be assigned the "E," "F," or "G" drive, depending on what other equipment is installed on your computer.
5. Highlight the drive letter corresponding to the music player, locate the songs you want to copy and highlight each song. You can select multiple songs by highlighting one, holding the "Ctrl" key down and highlighting the next one. If you want to transfer all of the songs, click on the first one, hold the "Shift" key down and highlight the last one. Right click and choose "Copy" from the menu.
6. Highlight the folder where you want to transfer the songs, then right-click on that folder and choose "Paste" from the menu. Your music will now be transferred to the computer's hard drive.
