OMA files are among the dozens of specialized audio files populating the Internet. These files are made and used for special purposes, but they are not compatible with a variety of popular programs. OMA files are made by Sony OpenMG Music and are most accessible by Sony programs. You can convert your OMA file to the more compatible Waveform Audio (WAV) file using a number of free programs or websites that can be accessed online.

Zamzar
1. Open the zamzar.com website and click "Browse" on the homepage.
2. Click your OMA file in the "Browse" menu and click "Open."
3. Click "WAV" in the drop-down menu and enter your email address.
4. Click "Convert" to convert and send the new WAV file.
Music Match Jukebox
5. Open the Jukebox and navigate to "File">"Options">"Convert" in the main menu.
6. Click "WAV" in the "Destination Data Type" menu.
7. Click your OMA file in the "Source Directory" window and click a folder to send it to the "Destination Directory" window.
8. Click "Start" to convert and send the file.
iTunes
9. Open iTunes and drag and drop your OMA file onto the "Music" page.
10. Click "Edit">"Preferences">"Import Settings" in the main menu.
11. Click "Import Using: WAV Encoder" and click "OK."
12. Click on your file and select "Advanced">"Create WAV Version" from the main menu to convert the file.
