Remove The Home windows Media Player Database

The Windows Media Player (WMP) database consists of information on media files such as name, location, the associated images, ID3 tags and WMA tags for each file.

Like most databases, information stored on a WMP database can become corrupted and not display correctly, or cause the player to freeze constantly. Depending on the nature of the corruption, WMP database can recover automatically, but if not, deleting it is a simple process, that will allow you to start a new database.

Instructions

1. Close Windows Media Player if you currently have it running.

2. Double-click "My Computer" the desktop and click the (C:) drive. Double-click the "Documents and Settings" folder.

3. Double-click "User Settings" and double-click "Applications Data." Double-click the "Microsoft" folder and double-click "Media Index."

4. Right-click "wmplibrary.dll" (Without quotes) and click "Delete." This deletes the database Windows Media Player uses as listing. It is not your actual music files.

5. Launch Windows Media Player and push "F3." Click "Add" to upload a new database.
