There's nothing less rock 'n' roll than a boring trip to a chain restaurant, a plain yellow birthday cake and a new pair of socks. Rocker guys deserve a rocking birthday, from the party down to the gifts. You don't need to bite the heads off any bats or throw TVs out of hotel room windows to give a rocker guy a memorable birthday.
Rock Club
What better place for a rocker guy to be on his birthday than at a club, watching his favorite band? Take him out to a show. Travel to a different town if you have to. If you have access to any of the band members, have the band announce that it's your rocker guy's birthday on stage and lead everyone in song. If there are no good shows going on that day, take your guy out to a rock 'n' roll bar and have at it with the jukebox. You can always give a gift of concert tickets as well.
Cake
Take a look at the cover of the Rolling Stone's album "Let It Bleed." On its cover is a birthday cake with the members of the band on top. Get your rocker guy a rocking cake. The simplest idea, as many cakes are round, is to get one that looks like a CD or record. If you can find a specialty cake maker, have them design the cake specifically for your rocker guy. Find out what his favorite album or artist is and try to recreate the image or band name on the cake. Some albums, like The Beatles' White Album, may be easier to recreate than others. Buy a specialty mold of a guitar and make the cake yourself and decorate it to look like your rocker guy's favorite guitarist's axe.
Non-Music Music Gift
Your rocker guy may have every single Led Zeppelin release, but does he have a pair of Led Zeppelin socks? If not, get them for him. A true rocker guy wants to surround himself with rock 'n' roll and presents that go beyond the music of the artists he loves should make him happy and his friends jealous. Scour the Internet and retail stores for gifts he probably doesn't have. Huge bands like KISS have a number of licensed products released every year, from T-shirts to figurines to books to board games.
Radio Dedication
Call up your rocker guy's favorite radio station and dedicate a song to him. Whether it's The Beatles' "Birthday" or his favorite song, he'll be sure to appreciate it.
