Dance Clubs in Pasadena

The best dance clubs in Pasadena are in the Old Town and downtown areas. By day, this area is filled with shoppers and diners, enjoying more than 200 shops and 100 bars and restaurants. By night, it's a haven for partygoers looking for something more accessible than the Hollywood scene. From swanky themed lounges to all-out dance parties, there's a place for both casual and upscale night owls in Pasadena.

LIV

If you've been to color-themed lounges like Pure and Tangerine in Las Vegas, you'll know what to expect at LIV. The decor here is similar, with lots of draped white curtains, blue backlighting and white leather seating.

The best night to party is Friday, when DJs play global-influenced chill-out music. The bartenders serve up interesting flavored cocktails and martinis, including a mojito made with vodka instead of rum, called the "fake-jito." Open Mondays through Thursdays until 12:30 p.m. and until 1:30 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

72 North

This club offers 18-and-over dancing on Friday nights, with Saturdays reserved for the 21-and-over crowd. The hardwood dance floor takes center stage, surrounded by brick walls hung with flat-screen TVs. Sip your drink in a private booth or on the outdoor heated patio.

Live entertainment on weekends ranges from DJ sets to live music. This club has the feel of a neighborhood bar, and it's more than just a dance club. Plenty of folks sit weeknights at the marble-topped bar or come during the day for the food. Open daily until 2 a.m.

Club Menage

This exotically styled club has the look of 19th-century France. Picture a red and black color scheme with gilded accents. Sink into one of the club's cushy booths, which are big and red, high in back and have exaggerated sculpted curves.

You can sit and watch the go-go dancers, or get out on one of three dance floors yourself. Each dance floor has its own full bar. Dance nightly to live DJs who spin a range of house, trance, Top 40 and R&B. Must be 21 or over; open Thursday through Saturday until 2 a.m.

The 35er Bar

If you're the type who likes to drink and dance in a no-frills dive beloved by locals, try the 35er. The dance floor is downstairs and you can play pool if you arrive before the DJ. Work up a sweat, then cool off on the outdoor patio or go back upstairs and listen to the jukebox.

There's usually free popcorn to snack on upstairs. Maybe this is why the 35er has been voted Best Dive Bar for 13 years running by Pasadena Weekly. Come on Fridays and Saturdays for live DJ sets. Open daily until 1:30 a.m.
