Biker Bars in Maryland
Maryland prides itself on being a motorcycle-friendly state. There are a number of motorcycle clubs, a very active chapter of the motorcyclist rights organization ABATE, and rides and rallies all over the state, from the beaches of the eastern shore to the mountains of western Maryland. After every ride, most bikers like to get together for a few drinks, something to eat and to admire each other's rides, and what better place to do it than at a bar known to welcome motorcyclists? The following are just a small sampling of the many biker bars throughout the state.
The Bearded Clam
The Bearded Clam is a beach town biker bar located in downtown Ocean City. It has been catering to a biker clientele for over 30 years, offering pool tables, video games, darts, 7 televisions and a juke box. It is a liquor store as well as a bar, and the house specialties are fresh-squeezed fruit drinks and cold beer (draft and bottled). The bar's events calendar features Dick Gelfman's Ride Across MD to benefit breast cancer research, the Eastern Shore Hog Poker Run and Delmarva Bike Week.

Apehanger's Bar and Grill
The name of the bar alone proclaims Apehanger's to be biker-friendly; although some may object to the bar's "No colors, no attitudes" policy, most bikers prefer it that way. Apehanger's hosts a number of biker events throughout the year, including the March of Dimes ride, Blessing of the Bikes, poker runs, a Halloween party and an annual Biker Luau held in the tiki bar/picnic area out back. Parking in front is bikes only, and the bar offers live bands on weekends, pool tables, cold beer and a selection of bar foods.

The Woodstock Inn
The Woodstock Inn may advertise itself as one of Howard County's finest historical taverns, but it actively caters to a biker clientele, offering motorcycle clubs the opportunity to book their bike runs and events right on the website. The bar features five plasma screen TVs, two pool tables and a wide variety of other games while the menu offers burgers, wings, steaks and seafood (heavy on the crab, of course). Cocktails and wine are available as well as a selection of beers (bottled and draft).

Padonia Station
Padonia Station in Timonium is definitely biker-oriented, sponsoring poker runs and, on occasion, exhibiting custom choppers right in the bar. It also has a full menu featuring wings, burgers (including a selection of bison burgers for those who prefer something on the wild side), ribs and quesadillas. Seafood specials include all you can eat steamed shrimp on Wednesdays and a jumbo lump crab cake special on Tuesdays. Weekly beer specials include Foster's (served in the 25-oz. "oil can"), Blue Moon, Dos Equis, Sam Adams, Heineken and Bass Ale. Big-screen TVs allow you to catch all of the Ravens, Orioles and Terps games, and depending on what night of the week you visit, there may be live music, dancing, trivia or even karaoke.
