Of the many file types across the Internet and the computer world, .CDA files are unique. They represent the shortcuts to files that exist on a compact disc. These files may link to a variety of extension types, depending on the CD that they are from. You can convert your .CDA files to the more accessible MP3 format in just minutes from your computer as long as the CD is inserted into your disc drive. Two different programs can be used for the conversion, both of which can be downloaded and installed free from their official websites.
Instructions
MusicMatch Jukebox
1. Insert the CD that is the source of your CDA files into your computer and launch the MusicMatch Jukebox on your desktop.
2. Select "Options," "File," and then "Convert" from the program's upper main menu.
3. Use the "Source Directory" box to navigate to the CDA files in the CD-drive folder on your computer.
4. Select a folder to send your converted files to in the "Destination Directory" box, and select "CDA" from the "Source Data Type" drop-down and "MP3" from the "Destination Data Type" drop-down menu.
5. Click "Start," and your files will be converted and sent to the folder you selected in the "Destination Directory" window.
iTunes
6. Launch your iTunes player on your desktop and insert the CDA source disc into your disc drive.
7. Select "Edit," "Preferences" and "Import Settings" from the upper iTunes menu.
8. Select "Import Using: MP3 Encoder" in the "Import Settings" drop-down menu and click "OK."
9. Click the "CD" tab on the left-side iTunes menu and click on the CDA songs on the CD you would like to convert.
10. Select "Create MP3 Version" in the pop-up menu and a new MP3 version of the song will be added to your iTunes library.
